HOW COME THERE'S NO DISNEYLAND IN ITALY & SWITZERLAND??!
hahas. airport photos.
the airplane ride was super long
13 hours
gosh.
watched mummy3, journey to the centre of the earth & hellboy. airplane food was no pleaser =/ i think i slept for like more than half the trip!
finally, 6.35am
Day 1:
Rome, Italy (Singapore: 1.35pm) Rome is really beautiful. They preserve their culture & history a lot.
we immediately got cheated at the airport. stupid taxi service.
we paid 85 euros n den found out lata that it's 35 euros. damn it. after that we went to check into our hotel,Gioberti Hotel.
when i saw it, i nearly dropped dead.
four star hotel my foot.
the hotel frame was not even 3 metres wide. the bellboy pretended we were non-existent at all. n the reception was frosty.
the room was okay i guess.
my rating: 1 star. k lahh, 1.5 stars
after that we took the train (its called Metro there) and proceeded to the Colosseum.
according to the info there, Gladiators fought 4 their lives/fame and fortune on the stage*. Criminals/prisoners of wars were thrown on the stage, naked & unarmed & spectators watched them being torn apart & eaten savagely by beasts such as lions, rhinoceros, giraffes(??!), leopards, bears & panthers. Gosh, that was their entertainment.
*the stage is white thing but half of it had alr fallen, revealing the labyrinth beneath. those that has moss all over alr are actually prisons n practice grounds for battles.
the info oso said the people particularly enjoyed seeing people running then being trapped n eaten/killed. vicious. i wont even pay 10 cents to watch it!
nxt was the Palazzo Foro Romano/Palatino
I SAW GARFIELD!! :D all the animals here r mega fat man. the birds look too fat to fly.
Food there was really nice :p This is the famous Spanish Steps, where designer stores dominate the whole prestigious street.
Oh yah, my mom wore her fox fur that day. I was really scared some insane anti fur group will pop out of nowhere & pelt eggs & throw flour at my mom coz in Paris anti fur groups were screaming everywhere & at every person wearing fur(fake or not). Lindsay Lohan was also floured in Paris during a gala dinner for wearing fur.
But 2day, EVERYONE at Spanish Steps WAS WEARING FUR. It looked real. & i bet it’s real!!!!!!!
Some wore fur coats from neck all the way to the pavement floor. Gosh. Everyone there dressed like celebrities, fur coats/hoodies, leather boots, bling, branded bags... & i was wearing a pink leopard print coat (obviously fake completed with fake fur!!!!!!!!!) =.=
gosh, i felt like China.
Anyway, recently i was searching in my mom’s wardrobe area & found her Louis Vuitton purse. She stopped using it 4 a long time coz she said it’s very common plus some leather part tore. It’s the usual brown with the usual LV pattern. The kind that aunties carry fake LV bags everywhere.
And guess what? When i visited the LV shop here, I SAW THE SAME PURSE THAT MY MOM HAD 4 LIKE 5 YEARS!!!
Hellooo change pattern alr! I bet the same designer is still designing there. They bags oso all the same 1 =.= But now there’s more diversification of designs. But still, a lot of brown & the usual LV pattern. My daddy nearly bot a LV sling bag. Luckily he chose grey & dark grey. Checkered. Something like Langston’s but abit bigger. But too bad it didn’t have a zip inside. It really doesn’t make sense to not hav a zip inside.
Esp in cities such as Rome which has 1 of the highest crime-rates in the world!! Surely kena pickpocketed lohhs!!!
So didn’t buy, wait until Florence & Milan! :D Somemore my mom heard Florence cheaper. (but lata i found that it was a disappointment)
But otherwise, we didn’t buy anything because it’s superrrrrrrrrr ex. there's hardly any stuff for guys here. so really sorry to guys. i didnt get 4 any guys any prezzies. but there's always chocolates! haha
I saw a Prada bag i like! BUT it costs more than a bomb. A few thousand. Oh well, i will have to wait until i find a gold mine. But service was super good. They really treat u like kings & queens. But some super snobbish ><
In the end, we left Spanish Steps with Swarovski jewellery. Coz i saw a snowflake necklace i really like. i lost a snowflake necklace last year & have been looking 4 1. All those that i saw was either too ugly or not worth the price tag. But this necklace was just it! It’s much cheaper here than in Sg (comparing the size of the crystals)
Settled dinner with more pizza again (fat) Lols now its like 3.42am in Sg but we are jst getting to sleep. Gosh, i miss Sg alr.
Day 2: 11th December 2008 Day 3 We visited the Vatican museum. Joined a tour group. Paid a total of Sg $320 for it. Grumble grumble. But we got to know a lot of info & history on Christianity & Greek mythology. Here is where Mr Spencer’s lessons come alive. Haha. Lots of Adam & Eve here.
the outside.
we were really lucky that day coz it was a wednesday n the Pope came out to give his usual speech n blessings. the Pope. sorry my cam maximum 4x zoom only =/
inside the hall. it was really packed.
the guard's uniform! cute right. hahas. we r actually not supposed to take photos of it. it's designed my Micheangelo. some really famous artist there.
the Vatican musuem hosts an array of oil painting, carvings and the highlight is the paintings done on plasters.
painting on plaster is extremely tedious and it requires the artist to be very careful because once painted on, mistakes cannot be painted over like what artists usually do. because plasters cannot absorb more paint blah blah(according to the guide)
so, artists that paint on them must be very skillful. like Micheangelo & another which i 4got =x
okay i gotta go sleep now. i will post the pics of the paintings 2moros. tata =)
